About

Photographs of the world as it is: rock and water, the living things that grew out of them, and what people have made.

Hi! I'm Aaron Glasenapp, an adventurer, climber and outdoorsman. I photograph wherever I happen to be: exposed ridge scrambles, deep in the forest, on a remote beach. While the natural beauty of the world is what most inspires me, I also appreciate the mechanical beauty of the anthropocene, sometimes capturing photos of the cities, structures, and machines that humans have built.

The collections

The collections tell a narrative. They begin with inert matter, the Planet itself: Earth & Sand, and the systems that shape it: Water & Snow. Out of that matter came life, the three kingdoms of Eukarya: Fungi, Plantae and Animalia. And out of life came us, and the world we've constructed: the Anthropocene.

The prints

Every print is made to order by a professional lab in the United States and arrives ready to hang. Each photo is offered only in sizes that keep its whole composition and that its resolution can print sharply.

Canvas 0.75"

Giclée eco-solvent ink on thick archival poly-cotton canvas, semi-gloss finish, wrapped over solid wood stretcher bars 0.75" deep. Acid-free & resists yellowing and fading.

Metal

The photo is infused into glossy white aluminum by dye sublimation, which gives it a luminous vibrancy: rich color, deep contrast and crisp detail. Scratch- and water-resistant, it floats 0.75" off the wall on a hidden mount. Hanging wire attached; ready to hang.

Gallery depth canvas 1.5"

Giclée eco-solvent ink on thick archival poly-cotton canvas, semi-gloss finish, wrapped over solid wood stretcher bars 1.5" deep. Acid-free & resists yellowing and fading. Sturdier for large prints, and bolder off the wall.

Framed canvas

Giclée eco-solvent ink on thick archival poly-cotton canvas, semi-gloss finish, wrapped over solid wood stretcher bars 1.5" deep. Acid-free & resists yellowing and fading. Set in a floating wood frame in black, oak or espresso, 0.55" wide at the front and 1.88" deep, with a slim gap around the canvas, so the framed print is about 1.4" wider and taller.

Every print ships with a hanging wire attached. Gallery depth and framed canvas can also have:

The prints are made by Lumaprints, which makes more options than I offer here (canvas, metal). If you'd like one, contact me to customize your order.

Climate Committment

I contribute 0.5% of every sale to removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, through Stripe Climate, which funds early carbon removal projects.

Photo editing

I use standard photo editing techniques, occasionally removing minor blemishes to polish the photo. On a small number of photos, I used generative AI to slightly extend the edges to create a better composition. You may have mixed feelings about AI in photography, as do I, and my policy is to be honest. Any photo where I extended the edges has a note saying so, and none of them have any meaningful content generated. The photos still represent what I captured.
